Andrew Wakefield is a guitarist, songwriter, and singer based in Asheville, North Carolina. Boasting an exceptional knack for song-craft and a boundless passion for the guitar, he has fast become a fixture in the area while word of his talent continues to spread throughout the southeast and beyond. If you were to ask a fan what sets Andrew Wakefield apart from contemporaries, they will likely mention his other-worldly guitar playing; add to that a penchant for catchy-yet-unconventional songwriting, and you've got what's called "the full package". Weaving the old with the new, blurring genres, and putting on one of the best live shows around, Andrew brings to us something always needed: a style of his own.
A burgeoning solo career will bare fruit March of '23 in the form of an upcoming LP entitled Bluegrassish. "I'm really proud of this record," Andrew says. "There are a lot of local heavy hitters featured on it and I'm honored that they are working on a project with me." Some of those heavy hitters include members of Songs From the Road Band, Larry Stephenson Band, The Well Drinkers, Supper Break, and Queen Bee and the Honeylovers.
Andrew remains a contributing member of The Well Drinkers, penning songs like Neon Train and Fly the Coop together with other members Jake and Adam Bachman. Charleston Bluegrass Fest and The Radio Room are among the places to see The Well Drinkers in 2023..
