Andrew Wakefield:

An Inventive expression of Bluegrass

With a knack for song-craft and a boundless passion for the guitar,  Andrew Wakefield has fast become a western North Carolina bluegrass fixture while word of his talent continues to spread further. Weaving old and new, blurring genres, and putting on one of the best live shows around, Andrew brings the bluegrass scene something always needed: a style of his own.

A burgeoning solo career bore fruit in March of '23 in the form of an LP entitled Bluegrassish. The record features Asheville-area bluegrass players including grammy-winner Charles Humphrey III, Nick Dauphinais of the Larry Stephenson Band, and members of Songs From the Road Band, The Well Drinkers, Supper Break, and Queen Bee and the Honeylovers.

Andrew remains a contributing member of The Well Drinkers, penning songs like Neon Train and Fly the Coop  together with other members Jake and Adam Bachman. Charleston Bluegrass Fest, Bristol Rhythm and Roots fest and The Radio Room in Greenville are among the places to see The Well Drinkers in 2023.

Career highlights include performing with Molly Tuttle and Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show, members of Billy Strings, Town Mountain, Fireside Collective, Songs From the Road Band, Jon Stickley Trio, Natural Bridge, Larry Stephenson Band, George Clinton's Big Ol' Nasty Getdown, Jeff Sipe, and playing lead electric guitar in Ween drummer Claude Coleman's outfit, Amandla.
